Abstract (EN): Life threatening hematochezia may be the presentation of rectal varices in portal hypertensive patients. There is not a standard method to control hemorrhage in those situations. We report two cases of successfully treated bleeding from rectal varices with a small number of sclerotherapy sessions. It is stressed that the assessment of rectal bleeding in portal hypertensive patients may promote the use of an efficient and minimally invasive technique as sclerotherapy.
