Resumo (PT):
Abstract (EN): This work evaluates the response of the diagonals members of steel lattice towers with circular cross-sections under the wind load determined according to the current regulation EN1991-1-4. For the purpose of this study a program in VBA using Excel was developed to evaluate the response of lattice steel towers to vortex shedding induced vibrations and possible failure due to fatigue. A design example was dealt with some possible detail. A formulation is proposed for the mitigation or suppression of the amplitudes of vibration, using ANSYS Fluent software for computational fluid dynamics modelling and numerical testing. The results obtained using small fins in the center section of certain diagonals of the telecommunication tower, which exhibited potential prone to failure due to vortex shedding in the perpendicular direction of wind load, minimized the damage due to fatigue and increased the expected life time of the structure. © 2018 IEEE.
