Resumo (PT):
Dada a crescente relevância social e científica das desigualdades sociais não só em Portugal como a nível europeu e mundial, este livro visa dar a conhecer e aprofundar o estado da arte sobre as desigualdades sociais e expressões daí decorrentes como os fenómenos da pobreza e exclusão social, seus diversos tipos e manifestações.
Considerando que a desigualdade social implica a apropriação privada de bens, recursos e recompensas em favor de uns e em detrimento de outros, as sociedades contemporâneas, nomeadamente a portuguesa, estão atravessadas por diversos tipos de desigualdades sociais, designadamente territoriais, de classe, de género, étnicas e etárias.
