Abstract (EN):
The DWI enables, by the b values variation, restriction of the water proton diffusion and provides a better characterization of the location, size and shape of lesions. This study aimed to assess the impact of the DWI sequence, and their correlation between the ADC values and the histological results, on the characterization of malignant breast lesions. The data collection includes 18 female aged between 38 and 71 years old, who presented with malignant breast lesions confirmed by histological reports. The DWI sequence was included to the MRI standard protocol to assess the ADC values. The ADC values calculated in the centre of the malignant lesions, showed average values and Standard Deviation of 0.89 +/- 0.14 x 10(-3) mm(2)/s respectively. The combination of methods has a sensitivity of 100%. The DWI technique proved to be a useful method that increases the diagnostic information in the characterization of malignant breast lesions.
