Abstract (EN):
This work presents a theoretical investigation on the coupling between different kinetics in lowpressure nitrogen discharges and afterglows. The crucial role is played by vibrationally excited N2(X,v) molecules, which have a direct influence on the electron kinetics, the population of electronically excited states and dissociation. Furthermore, vibrationally excited molecules are also at the origin of the very interesting phenomenon of the short-lived (pink) afterglow, which occurs downstream from a flowing nitrogen discharge and is characterized by a raise in the emissions of the first positive and first negative systems of N2 after a dark zone.
