Abstract (EN):
The influence of large displacements in the vibration behaviour of beams, subjected to bending from transverse disturbances, is analysed. In large vibration amplitudes, the determination of the characteristic frequencies has to deal with the structure stiffness matrix depending on the current structural configuration in each time step. This large displacements stiffness matrix is evaluated with a second order strain field where a simple linearization technique is used. Results for the characteristic frequencies of test specimens subjected to large amplitude vibration are compared with alternative finite element solutions and experimental procedures. © Civil-Comp Press, 2008.
