Abstract (EN):
Some R&D done recently at FEUP, under control of vibrations using TMDs is described. The first part of this study is a parametric analysis of the performance of a TMD in the mitigation of the effects of earthquakes in building-like structures. The targeted parameters in the analyses were the number of storeys of the buildings, the mass ratio mu of the TMD, and the earthquake input signals. The number of storeys of the buildings varied from 5 to 30 with increments of 5 storeys. The mass ratio of the TMD varied from 0.00 to 0.05 with increments of 0.01. The actions considered were the 1951 El Centro earthquake and the 1995 Kobe earthquake. The second part of the study addresses the control of vibrations of a pedestrian bridge at Porto under excitations produced by the pedestrians themselves
