Resumo (PT): ES: El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar el distanciamiento semántico y funcional, en español y en portugués, del par todavía / todavia, formas que se han venido analizando como falsos amigos. Dicho análisis abarca dos fases. En la primera, se analizan los valores de las unidades objeto del presente estudio, recurriendo para ello, desde una perspectiva diacrónica y sincrónica, a obras gramaticales y lexicográficas ¿monolingües y bilingües¿ del español y del portugués. Por lo que se refiere a todavía, se analizan sus usos, bien conocidos, como adverbio: aspectual de fase, de foco o como término de polaridad negativa o como denotador de relaciones de tipo escalar; menos usual, en la descripción gramaticográfica, es el valor de todavía próximo a sin embargo, que se atestigua desde muy temprano en la lexicografía del español. A este respecto, se determinará si, en otras sincronías del español, con dicho sentido, todavía pudo transcender el límite oracional, utilizándose como partícula discursiva con sentido contraargumentativo. Este valor, precisamente es el que tiene todavía en portugués, que integra el conjunto de partículas contrastivas o concessivas. En la segunda fase del trabajo, se presenta un análisis de las diferentes soluciones de traducción al español de todavia, según sus usos, en un corpus de textos literarios en portugués.

Abstract (EN): The aim of this paper is to analyze the semantic and functional distancing, in Spanish and Portuguese, of the pair todavia / todavía, words that have been analyzed as false friends. This analysis comprises two phases. In the first one, the values of the units of the present study are analyzed, using both a diachronic and synchronic perspective in grammatical and lexicographical works¿monolingual and bilingual¿from Spanish and Portuguese. As regards todavía, its uses are well-known, like adverb: aspectual of phase adverb, focus adverb or like term of negative polarity or like denoting of scalar type relations. Less usual, in the grammatical description, is the value of todavía close to sin embargo, which is attested very early in the Spanish's lexicography. In this respect, it will be determined whether, in other synonyms of Spanish, with that meaning, if todavía could transcend the sentence limit, and be used as a discursive particle with a counterargumentary meaning. This value, precisely, is the one of todavia in Portuguese, which integrates the set of particles contrastive or concessive. In the second phase of the work, an analysis of the different solutions of Spanish translation of todavia is presented, according to its uses, in a corpus of Portuguese literary texts.
