Abstract (EN):
This dissertation is concerned with the problem of developing methods and techniques for the Parametric Experimental Identification of the dynamic characteristics of Civil Engineering structures, assuming a linear, time invariant and stable behaviour.
Having in mind the necessity of building a measurement system, a few concepts and ideas about the main components traditionally included in these systems are presented according to current equipment characteristics and needs. In the sequence of this, some of the most important Signal Processing Techniques are introduced and discussed. Several Modal Analysis methods in the frequency domain are also presented and analyzed, taking into consideration the peculiarity of full-scale Civil Engineering structures.
Computer codes were developed in order to perfor signal processing and dynamic parameter identification. The organization of these programs is described and their efficiency is tested by means of simulated FRF obtained from a simple structure.
Two practical examples of experimental testing in real structures illustrate the interest and the validity of the developed algorithms and reveal particular aspects associated with the application of the different techniques involved.
