Abstract (EN):
Magnetic measurements on CeCo2 show, for the first time in this compound, a modified Curie-Weiss behaviour for its magnetic susceptibility in the temperature range 4.5-300 K. The corresponding temperature independent magnetic susceptibility (chi(0)) is only slightly higher than that of alpha-Ce, indicating that the CeCo2 matrix behaves similarly to alpha-Ce, i.e., as an intermediate valence system with a high spin fluctuation temperature (T-sf). The temperature dependent Curie-Weiss term is associated with a reduced effective magnetic moment, which is attributed to Ce3+ magnetic ions in a concentration of about 3%.
