Abstract (EN): The Work Equipment Directive provides work equipment inspections, by a competent person. However, the specific requirements for this competency are, still, without definition. In this sense, this article aims to build a competency's conceptual model for these cases, based in criteria established by law or by official authorities for inspection professionals. 32 already published profiles were analyzed, cataloged according to knowledge, skills and experience for its exercise. Through this inventory, it was possible to propose a three-dimensional space (limited by the resultant values of each mentioned variable) where it can be considered to exist the necessary competency for the person who performs work equipment inspections.
