Abstract (EN): The versatility of carbon materials as metal supports as well as metal-free catalysts for environmental applications is presented, highlighting some of the work carried out at the Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials (LCM), which focuses on carbon materials and catalysis as its main research areas. Carbon materials with appropriate surface and textural properties to act as supports for the active phases or as catalysts on their own have been successfully developed for catalytic processes such as the catalytic reduction of ions and advanced oxidation processes.
