Abstract (EN):
Hydroperoxide-reducing enzymes of pathogenic parasites of the family Trypanosomatidae, including Leishmania spp., Trypanosoma cruzi, and T. brucei, are regarded as potential targets for therapeutic intervention owing to their unique and essential character. This chapter reviews the thiol peroxidases of trypanosomatids (i.e., peroxiredoxins and non-selenium glutathione peroxidases), exploring their mechanisms, specificities, and functions. © 2013 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
