Abstract (EN):
A large number of clinicians and even a small number of pathologists still regard electron microscopy as an esoteric academic exercise. Others consider it to be a 'wonder stain;, able to solve all the diagnostic problems facing the diagnostic histopathologist. The purpose of this paper is to discuss to what extent ultrastructural pathology may be regarded as a special stain and whether it should be considered a sub-speciality of pathology.
