Abstract (EN): The objective of this paper is to validate a procedure to build a 3D model of the foot and to simulate three different instances during the gait cycle and also for the balanced standing posture, to obtain pressure and tensions distributions in the foot. From CT images, one obtains mesh clouds of the 3D objects using Mimics®software. The different solid parts are obtained using Solidworks® software, and the FEM analysis was done using Ansys®software. This methodoly was applied to the study of an obese foot in situations that can cause pain and discomfort, in order to define the best orthosis solution. © 2011 Taylor & Francis Group.
