Abstract (EN):
This study intends to present further research on the compound hexadecylpyridinium octylsulfate (PS), that belongs to a new class of surfactants – the catanionic surfactants – which present liquid crystalline phases. This compound was characterized by optical and low frequency dielectric relaxation experiments. The results show significant changes in the complex dielectric constant measurements at the phase transition temperatures, together with optical texture transformations, non-egordic behaviour and several relaxation modes whose dielectric amplitude suffer visible anomalies during the phase transitions.
