Abstract (EN): The paper presents and discusses a methodology for assessment and mitigation of pedestrian induced vibrations in footbridges, on the basis of a series of practical examples of footbridges constructed in Portugal. These include two stress-ribbon footbridges with spans of 30 m and 50 m, and two other footbridges, one of girder-arch type, with 110 m chord, and one arch footbridge with 84 m chord.
