Abstract (EN):
Dielectric measurements and Raman spectroscopy have shown for betaine rubidium iodide dihydrate, with formula [(CH3)(3)N+CH2COO-](2)RbI.2H(2)O, BRbI for short, the existence of two phase transitions in this compound, PT, (at T-c1 = 190 K) and PT2 (at T-c2 = 90 K). The former phase transition is related to the loss of translational and librational degrees of freedom of water molecules and this, as shown by dielectric data, triggers a relaxation process leading to a complete 'freezing in' of protons within the unit cell, and therefore, producing a proton-glass state.
