Abstract (EN):
The study shows the blood elasticity influence during the hemodynamic systolic phase in the bifurcation of a coronary artery. To take on account the elastic property of the blood, the multi-mode Phan-Thien-Tanner (PTT) model was implemented in an OpenFOAM (R) code for simulations. In the bifurcation, where flow is non-stabilized, there are differences in the velocity profiles, considering multi-mode PTT model (shear-thinning and elastic behavior of the blood) and Carreau Model (only shear-thinning behavior). In the branches, after flow stabilization, these differences vanish. The elastic blood behavior has an important role on the blood flow pattern in regions of non-stabilized flow.
