Abstract (EN):
Anaerobic photolysis of [Co(III)(salen)(CH3)(H2O)] (1) and [Co(III)(saltMe)(CH3)(H2O)] (2) induces homolytic cleavage of the cobalt-carbon bond and formation of cobalt(II) five-coordinate species and organic radicals as primary products. In the presence of phosphines and substituted pyridines, 1 forms 1:1 adducts, whereas the adducts of 2 depend on the type and amount of base. Specifically, for phosphine derivatives of 2, only the 1:1 adducts are observed, but for pyridines, the formation of 1:2 adducts of 2 takes place in the presence of excess base.
