Resumo (PT): O artigo salienta a importância da temática teológica em Aquilino, detendo-se na abordagem de algumas dos seus livros. O autor mostra como a elucubração reflexiva, filosófico-teológica, irrompe a cada passo e revela o conhecimento direto de Aquilino das fontes que invoca. Em algumas obras, como em Arcas Encoiradas, são-nos dados a conhecer alguns livros de sua propriedade, demonstrativos do interesse do romancista pela hagiografia e pela mística. O autor conclui salientando o quanto lucraríamos com uma sistemática identificação das espécies bibliográficas – neste caso no domínio teológico – expressa ou implicitamente referidas ao longo da vastíssima obra de Mestre Aquilino.

Abstract (EN): The article emphasizes the importance of theological themes in Aquilino and concentrates on the analysis of some of his works. The author demonstrates the extent to which philosophical-theological, reflective speculation is constantly disclosed; this reveals Aquilino’s direct knowledge of the sources invoked. In some works, such as Arcas Encoiradas, we gain insight into some of the books which belonged to Aquilino and this demonstrates the novelist’s interest in hagiography and mysticism. The author concludes by underlining how much is to be gained by systematically identifying all types of bibliography (in the present case, from the theological domain) which is expressed or implicitly referred to in Master Aquilino’s substantial body of work
