Abstract (EN): The preparation and physical properties of new chromium (II) complexes of general formula [ Cr ')3] Cl2. n H2O [ L-L¿ = 2,2¿-pyridyl-benzimidazole (pyb); 2,2¿-pyridylimidazole(pyi) and 2,2'-pyridylimidazo-line (pyim)] are reported. The effective magnetic moments are close to the spin only value for low-spin d4electronic configurations and invariant in the temperature range studied (300 K to 90 K). The electronic spectra (solution and Nujol mulls) show several intense bands in the 8,000 to 30,000 cm-1 region. Both results support the existence of monomeric, low spin, hexacoordinate species with trigonal symmetry.
