Summary: |
The general aim of this network is to promote virtual mobility in Higher Education (HE) and Continuing Education (CE), based on the capacities and potential uses of e-learning.
To achieve this goal, the consortium will first create a framework of infrastructures and tools to potentiate cooperation and help to establish a successful network. To increase efficiency, Special Interest Groups will be addressing specific issues. Partners will join SIGs according to their interests.
At SIG level, case-study analysis will occur, centred on existing obstacles for national and international virtual mobility and based on partner experience. Initiatives on these areas will be studied to find solutions, develop a model and test it using bi-lateral partnerships. EQF will provide a common standard for comparing and exchanging e-learning resources. The Liaison committee will join results and produce a handbook, addressing all critical areas and providing an integrated model
The connection to existing initiatives, networks and stakeholders, National and International, is a priority of VIRQUAL. Each SIG can promote links or they can occur with VIRQUAL network as one. The use off web 2.0 tools and Internet based communications will provide wider dissemination of project results. At the same time, it will contribute as an experience on Virtual Mobility implementation.
The Consortium is constituted by Institutions experienced in e-Learning and project management and have collaborated before in different contexts. To ensure the quality of the project, one of the partners was chosen as evaluator due to the large experience in project management and in e-learning production and delivery. Management of the network is clearly distributed and will be implemented through specific workpackages. All partners will be actively involved in management through the following structure:

General Assembly, with one representative from each partner, will define policies and general directions
Executive Management with the Coordinator and leaders of all WP, will ensure the overall implementation of the project
Liaison Committee with representatives from all SIGs, has as main function to maintain the network as one, linking the activities and objectives of the different SIGs
SIGs will implement each specific objectives and activities |
