Objectives

The program aims to introduce:

1. The emergency conditions of clinical criminology, theories and concepts, methods, themes and intervention fields;
2. The applications of the clinical method in the criminological praxis and the process and dynamics of the psychological assessment;
3. The different methods and techniques of psychological assessment and its scientific basis;
4. The notion of clinical practice as an evidence based practice;
5. The contribution of the scientific study of psychopathology and crime for the conceptualization of the person under clinical analysis;
6. The limits and implications of clinical criminology and ethical and deontological issues.

Learning outcomes and competences

It is expected that students acquire the skills that are necessary to reflect around the core concepts of clinical criminology. We also intend to introduce and train essential clinical skills in assessment and intervention.

2. Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical-practical classes, combining the description and discussion of the main contents of the program with practical group-work. Practical classes are orientated towards the active search for information, the integration pf the contents through the analysis of recent scientific literature and the discussion of the implication of current theoretical models and research for the analysis of particular cases.
