Objectives


To give students a basic knowledge of the subject;
To develop in the students an ability to put this knowledge into practice;
To increase a critical attitude in the students with respect to the content and normative solutions.

PART I - On the Labour-Legal System

Chapter I – Sources of labour law
1 – Normative pluralism and the principle of social normative autonomy.
2- Sources of labour law.
3- Hierarchy of the sources of labour law. Principle of the most favourable treatment for the worker.
4- – Application of labour law.

Chapter II – Constitutional Right to Work
1—Constitutional background to work. List of workers’ fundamental rights.
2- Subjective scope of constitutional right to work.
3- Right to safety in the workplace and the prohibition of dismissal without just cause.
PART II - Collective Labour Law

Chapter III – Collective rights of workers
1-Trade Union Freedom
2- Workers’ Committee: the Portuguese normative model.
