Objectives, activities and expected/achieved results
Objetivos e Atividades In this project, I propose to develop a family of novel partially doped nanocarbons containing on the same structure both a hydrophobic (undoped) and a hydrophilic portion (doped with one or more heteroatoms), which will add an additional acid/base function. Through selective deposition of metals in the different sections, particles located at the hydrophobic end will catalyze reactions in the organic phase, while those on the hydrophilic side will catalyze reactions in the aqueous phase.
Resultados Esperados/Atingidos Heteroatom doped carbon nanomaterials represent today one of the most promising families of materials. The present research project is expected to result in a deeper fundamental understanding of the incorporation of dopant species into different carbon nanomaterials, as well as its importance on the multifunctional properties of the resulting catalysts.
