The objective of this curricular unit is to promote the personal, scientific and professional development of students through the presentation and discussion of a set of broad themes covering the different technical and scientific areas covered by this master's course and which are expected to contribute to the development of the respective thesis, or internship, and for future integration into working life.
It is expected that at the end of the UC students will be familiar:
1 - With the varied and current range of topics of Chemical Analysis, Accreditation and Analytical Methods;
2 - How different chemistry topics are applied in concrete situations;
3 - How to implement Accreditation in concrete situations;
4 - With different ways of integrating Analytical Methods, Chemical Analysis and Accreditation in diverse scenarios (introduced by presentations from various industry sectors or services).
The concrete syllabus of this course may vary in each academic year, although the general format remains constant. An intensive week of 21hours of contact is planned, which includes:
1 Participation in lectures organized on emerging topics in chemical analysis.
2 Active participation in the discussions in the final presentations.
3 Report and public presentation on a selected topic.
Considering the nature and dynamics of this course, there will be no bibliography base. All the relevant materials to students will be made available, each year, by the stakeholders in specific modules to be held.
The classes will be a place for presentation by business or academia-related guests of practical aspects regarding new analytical methodologies, equipments or quality management.
Students 'participation will be encouraged through the alternating assignment of the students' responsibility in the co-presentation of the speakers and the co-direction of the presentations and through a round of questions at the end of the presentations where the participation of the remaining students will be encouraged.
