Objectives

The Summer school aims at filling the gap between the scientific and technical preparation of students in science and engineering and their need to deal with the impact of their work on industry and market. The syllabus comprises contemporary subjects for the training of the students in transversal competencies related to communicatiom, dissemination, managemente and transfer of technology. The presentation of those topics will be provided by professionals and experts from the academic, business and industrial world. The students will contact with a set of topics, case studies and direct testimonies to increase their participation and motivation, and consequently to achieve the outlined learning  goals.

Learning outcomes and competences

The objectives of the School are to provide the students with the skills to:
a)    write a research project and expose and defend it in front of a jury;
b)   understand how to transfer laboratory results to industry having in view the market needs and the necessity to form a workgroup;
c)    understand what is the intellectual property and how to protect it while collaborating with partners.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The course programme will be implemented in a variety of formats: lectures , debates and oral presentations , in order to appeal to the active participation of students. The students will have to prepare a personal project presentation and a group presnetaion (business idea and implementation), which should include the most important ideas and concepts transmitted to them. Assessment: projects (100%).
