Abstract (EN): This work reports a preliminary numerical study of blood flow in a bifurcation channel with stenosis. In a first approach, the geometry in study is just a sketch of the left coronary artery. The blood conditions adopted were as close as possible to the reality. The commercial code ANSYS was used to perform the numerical study. The blood flow in a channel provided with a moderate stenosis (65% of occlusion) was compared with that in a severe stenosis (90% of occlusion). For a severe stenosis, the static pressure drop is higher; the difference between mass flow rates in both branches of the bifurcation is also higher; and small recirculation regions are observed following the stenosis region. Real geometries of the left coronary artery are expected to be used in future work.
