Subject: Occupational Safety and Health - Thermal Environment
Abstract (EN): Physical and psychological conditions for comfort, safety, hygiene, and health are critical. However, it is necessary to take into account the expectations of companies regarding the performance at work. This study characterizes ten workplaces where thirty-five workers perform their tasks in an aluminum smelting industry. Individual questionnaires with direct and closed questions were applied, describing each respondent and his perception of thermal comfort along working day individually. The last four questions were presented as a 10-point Likert scale. The sample was composed only by male elements, more than 70% acclimatized. From the analysis of the results is recommended a readjustment of working time depending on the season of the year. With this new scheduling would be easier to adjust the work/rest cycle in order to allow operators to recover their thermal comfort. Consideration should be given to the availability of complementary equipment such as washbasins and chilled drinking water suppliers provided.
