The Master’s of Science in Geology provides additional training in the field to impart and consolidate knowledge on the part of teachers, investigators and specialised professionals, particularly in the areas of prospecting and extracting geological resources, in applied geology and in geologic cartography. Skills needed for the autonomous gathering, analysis and interpretation of geological information will be the focus of this second cycle degree.
Target students include professional geologists exercising their profession in companies dedicated to prospecting and extracting metal and non-metal resources, to exploring and transforming ornamental and industrial stones, to civil engineering, in firms dedicated to design and consulting and in institutions of higher education, laboratories and governmental entities, in local governments, regional development commissions and others.
Graduates of master’s programs are also qualified to work in other areas including planning, prevention and prediction of natural disasters, environmental conservation and management and sustainable development.
First cycle degrees in geology or related scientific or technological fields.
