Admissions Requirements

The candidate must have: (i) a master's degree or equivalent in the field of biology or related area; (ii) a scientific research work plan, designed to three years; (iii) at least one declaration of acceptance of guidance of a PhD supervisor which will be a teacher or one of the qualified scientific researchers from one of the research units recognized by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto.

Selection and Ranking Criteria

• Criterion 1- The candidate's Merit (50%)

• Sub-criterion 1-academic rating (50%)
• Sub-criterion 2-curriculum analysis (50%)

• Criterion 2-Merit and feasibility of the work programme (50%)

• Sub-criterion 1-relevance, merit and innovative nature of the plan of work (50%)
• Sub-criterion 2-feasibility of the work programme with regard to quality conditions of the supervisor team and research unit (50%)

Tie-breaking criteria of candidates:

• the criterion of merit and feasibility of the work programme, will be used to order the candidates tied
