Admissions Requirements

Students must hold one of the following qualifications:

• a pre-Bologna, first cycle degree (the former “licenciatura”) in biology or a related field;
• a post-Bologna second cycle or master’s degree or any academic qualification legally equivalent.

Selection and Ranking Criteria

Candidates will be selected and ranked by the BIODIV Coordinating Committee (in accordance with Article nº 5 of the Programme Statutes) after careful study of their curriculum vitae and the results of a possible interview.

Ranking criteria will emphasise:

• student’s academic record at the first and second cycle levels, and master's thesis, provided it is on a related topic (60%)
• experience in research projects, publications and scientific presentations at meetings and the letter of application (20%)
• fundamentação da carta de motivação (10%)
• the availability of doctoral grants (10%)

Candidates may be rejected if their academic curriculum and scientific experience are deemed insufficient.
