Objectives

Introduction to data processing and interactive visualization. Particular attention is given to the creation of dynamic statistical analysis tools.

It is intended that the student acquires familiarity with software for reporting and integration of statistical analysis, namely Microsoft PowerBi and R.

Learning outcomes and competences

To develop skills in establishing relationships between data from different sources, as well as acquiring practical skills necessary for their presentation.

At the end of this curricular unit, the student:

  • should acquire knowledge and experience on good practices in data processing, focusing on methodological aspects of its processing, analysis and representation;

  • should be able to handle interactive visualization tools.

1. Brief introduction to Microsoft Power BI.

2. Preparing data for analysis (import and transformation).

3. Building data models (relationships and creating metrics).

4. Data representation and integration techniques with R.

5. Creating interactive reports and publishing documents.

Calculation formula of final grade

The curricular unit will have its evaluation resulting from the completion of a practical work in a mandatory group with its respective presentation (80%) and a theoretical test (20%).

The theory test will take place during exam season.
The grade of the work and its presentation cannot be improved.

Classification improvement

The grade improvement can only be performed in the theoretical test component.
