Selection and Ranking Criteria

A total of up 12 vacancies, equitatively distributed by University of Porto and University of Lisbon, will initially be filled by the candidates selected in the application process for the doctoral programme scholarships, which is described in the corresponding Evaluation Guide.

The remaining candidates will be selected and ranked by the BIODIV Directive Board after careful study of their curriculum vitae and the results of a possible interview.

Ranking criteria will emphasise:

  • student’s academic record at the first and second cycle levels, and master's thesis, provided it is on a related topic (50%)
  • experience in research projects, publications and scientific presentations at meetings and the letter of application (30%)
  • fundamentação da carta de motivação (20%)

Candidates may be rejected if their academic curriculum and scientific experience are deemed insufficient.
