Objectives

Enhance knowledge on various disease, and their clinical situations related to food and / or nutrition.
It is intended to convey skills and competencies in clinical nutrition such that at the end the student can be able to recognizes the pathogenesis and clinical aspects of various situations, be able to act independently and conscientiously in different situations, can manage solutions and responsibilities, and that enliven the scientific spirit in their work.

 

Learning outcomes and competences

The student should be able to identifty and know how to solve clinical cases, according to the described nutritional guidelines.

- Pathogenesis of Diabetes: aspects of nutrigenomics.
- Genetics of Diabetes.
- Etiology of Diabetes Type 1. Clinical aspects. Complications.
- Pharmacological treatment of Type 1 diabetes.
  Pharmacological treatment of Type 2 diabetes.

- Etiology, clinical aspects and pharmacological treatment of obesity.
- Feeding Behavior in Obesity.
- Psychological Intervention in Obesity.
- Obesity in pregnancy: complications and nutritional recommendations. Pregnancy and bariatric surgery.

- Metabolic syndrome in adults: pathogenesis and clinical features.
- Metabolic syndrome in children: risks.

- Nutrition Recommendations and dietary treatment of obesity and diabetes.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Lectures: expository and interrogative method. Allow the deepening of theoretical knowledge, while associated with the practice and clinical experience of the teachers / experts invited.

Theoretical-practical classes: interrogative and demonstrative method, using the resolution of case studies. Facilitate the interconnection of theoretical knowledge with practice, transposing it to real cases that the student safely can explore and solve.

Classes Laboratory Practice: interrogative and demonstrative method. Assist the student's familiarity with the support and laboratory technique.
