Applying to two-dimensional images (viz., paintings) assumptions derived from the history of art, perception psychology and geometry.
Learning outcomes: writing a paper in which students show being able to use those assumptions while dealing with images (viz., paintings) of their own choosing
The semester will be divided in two parts. In the first half, students will be handed relevant history, psychology and geometry contents. At its end they will be examined, by writing an abstract of the abovementioned contents. In the second half, after a preparation period in which their work in progress will be closely followed by the teacher, students will produce the paper previously mentioned, as the outcome of the learning process.
Other than talking classes, art school-style (in the first half of the semester), there will be strong inducements to use digital processing tools (as described below), specially in the second half.
