With the Digital Culture CU we aim to endow the students with a broad perspective on the impact of the digital in society and culture, and to simultaneously provide mechanisms of analysis and reflection in order to establish a critical standpoint with operational characteristics.

Learning outcomes and competences

By the end of the semester students will have a wide knowledge on the history of digital culture, its main actors, and over the impact of the digital in society and culture. They will be able analyze and reflect in a critical and operational way over the transformations that the digital implies.   

Working method



In the Digital Culture CU we'll undertake a mapping on the impact of digital society in culture and its redefinition facing new media, proposing an idea of digital culture with a social ontology.

With the advent of the information era and particularly the digital revolution, we witness a general process of dematerialization that proposes new sociocultural models and disruptions in established paradigms. Mapping these disruptions and the consequent identification of emerging paradigms will work as a strategy to reflect, create and propose innovative ways of action, aiming at a permanent re-contextualization of the design processes.

A set of pre-defined topics will allow the problematization of these issues in class and its consolidation through the development of projects.

Exposition, analysis, and discussion of relevant theoretical materials and practical examples. 

Development of projects, individually and in working-teams, aiming to problematize the contents covered, to identify fields of action and propose innovative approaches and solutions.
