Abstract (EN):
The thermodynamic description of a strong electrolyte solution is illustrated by calculations of the freezing point depression of strong electrolyte in water. It is shown that even at very high dilution the use of Debey-Hückle type limiting law is necessary to represent the freezing point depression. In this way, student can compare the experimental data with values assuming the ideal behavior of using the Debey-Hückle equation. It is observed that this simple analysis of electrolyte solution is certainly a nice a starting point to motivate student to get some knowledge of electrolyte thermodynamics.
