22 March 2018, 6h30pm, Fernando Távora Auditorium - FAUP
FAUP welcomes the second conference of the International Lecture Cycle: Context(s) in Contemporary Architecture: 5 Continents that will be presented by Paul Owen, from the office Owen and Vokes and Peters based in Brisbane, Australia. The conference is scheduled to take place in FAUP on 22 March 2018, 6h30pm.
Paul Owen started his first practice, Owen and Vokes and Peters, in 2003, in Brisbane, and he is now the main architect of Owen Architects. Through an erudite approach, Owen combines architectural elements and materials that stem from a wide knowledge on the traditional Queensland house, regarding its spatial characteristics and local construction technology. By integrating vernacular and historical elements, carefully using of transitions between interior and exterior areas, and meticulously designing shading devices, Owen’s architecture expresses a humanist desire for comfort and ambience diversity, which is deeply rooted in his own culture.
Free entrance (up to the room's capacity). The programme is subject to change.
