Objectives
This curricular unit (CU) aims to increase students’ understanding of how psychological factors influence performance in sport settings, and exploring the ways in which they relate to the pursuit of excellence in sport and life. Additionally, it aims to increase students’ understanding of how psychological skills training can be applied to a variety of sports agents, thus helping them acquire skills and knowledge about sport psychology that they can apply as a coach, teacher, athletic trainer or other sport agents.
Learning outcomes and competences
Students are expected to be able to:
a) discuss critically psychological factors contributing to excellence in sport
b) discuss critically various methods necessary to prepare sportspeople mentally for elite competition
c) locate, read, and interpret sport psychology research, discussing the status and ramifications for future research related to their main topic of study
