Overall, this course aims to introduce the students to the field of sports psychology, develop a comprehensive approach to the main topics of this area of knowledge, and invariably regarding the contexts in which they'll do their activities.
At the end of this CU, students should be able to:
- understand how psychological factors influence involvement and performance in sports and physical activity settings.
- understand how participation in sport and physical activity may impact the psychological outcomes of participants.
- acquire skills and knowledge about sports psychology theory and research that can be applied as an athlete, coach, teacher, parent, or other sports agent within relevant sports and physical activity settings.
- develop the ability to think critically about issues in the psychology of sport and physical activity.

To access the final exam, students will have to meet the following criteria:
i) attend at least 75% of the theoretical and practical lessons taught, and
ii) a minimum grade of 47.5% in the practical component.
Students who fail to ensure the presence of the minimum number of classes described above should contact the responsible course at the latest within 15 days after the first class teaching to be able to define an alternative plan for training and evaluation.
Theoretical component (50% of the total final classification):
i) distributed assessment: 3 mini-tests carried out within classes (33%) and when the final exam (17%)
ii) final assessment: regular season/resource (50%).
Practical component (50% of the final grade):
ii) preparation, presentation (written and oral), and defense of research work - 37.5%
ii) individual reflection - 12.5%
The theoretical and practical components of the total score will not be less than 47.5% of the corresponding value.
Students covered by laws relating to special arrangements for attendance may be required to carry out special testing for proof of knowledge and skills related to the objectives and content of the course.
Students can try to improve their ranking through repetition of the the final exam (in case of the theoretical component). The written assignment is not subject to improvement.
