Objectives

Understand the specificities of the sport.


Incorporate students in the technical team of a club (collaboration), to develop knowledge and the main skills for future professional practice.


Manage and conduct the training process of a group of gymnasts, giving support in training and competition.


Develop and apply the knowledge in different tasks as planning, implementation, conduction and evaluation of training process in Gymnastics.


Acquire theoretical knowledge to face different obstacles or difficulties arising from the practical application.


Develop the necessary skills to organize an official competition of gymnastics.

Understanding the Gymnastics context.

Demonstrate skills to conduct and manage the training process in Gymnastics.

Know how to organize the different phases of planning (annual, monthly, weekly, training session) and to be able to consider the different stages of planning (preparation, realization, evaluation and reformulation).

Know how to implement, lead, plan, control and evaluate the training process in gymnastics.

Know how to use a complementary knowledge to create different strategies of intervention.

Demonstrate knowledge to organize an official competition of Gymnastics.

Program

The students will conduct the training process under practical experience in a Training Center (TC) wich is tutored by a qualified coach and supervised for the responsible of teacher.


The students are placed in a club as part of a technical team, to progressively develop the knowledge and the necessary skills to fulfil their professional practice.


Every week, all students will have sessions to discuss issues, doubts and methodologies to apply during training and competition.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The curricular unit of Methodology III – Gymnastics, brings together the following components of work:

- theoretical sessions;

- analysis and discussion of documents;

- participation in seminars and practical sessions;

- Organization of an official gymnastics competition – "GimnoJúnior";

- formation by a tutored and supervised professional practice in a gymnastic club.


If the practical classes are not possible as a result of the COVID-19 situation, they will be replaced by videoconference sessions (Zoom) and contents (videos, documents..etc) placed on the Moodle platform.
The training center tasks will be maintained and adapted according to the place where they will be done, in the gym or at home (zoom).

Eligibility for exams

Participate:


(i) at least 75% of giving lessons;


(ii) 3 units of training per week during the sport season;


(iii) in all competitions that training center participates held in the Oporto city area.

Calculation formula of final grade

The students will be evaluated in the following components:


- Practical evaluation (50%) – includes tasks of participating in practical sessions, managing training, organizing competitions and carrying out work sheets. In this evaluation are included the frequency requirements (i, ii, iii).


- Written work (30%) - training center tasks;


- Individual report (20%) – professional formation.
