Understand the health planning process;
Describe the coordination, implementation and evaluation of programmes and projects;

Upon completion of the course unit, students should be able to:
Demonstrate mastery of the health planning process.
Explain the phases of health planning and their practical application.
Develop a programme and/or project that includes all stages of the health planning process.
Explain the importance of health planning, recognising it as a fundamental tool for improving the organisation of services, optimising resources and responding adequately to the needs of the population.
Relate health planning to national and international health policies.
Recognise the influence of economic, social and cultural variables on health planning.
Understand contracting and financing as structural elements of health planning.
Implement the stages of health planning
Develop a programme and/or project for health promotion and disease prevention, in line with national and international health policies.
Use epidemiological, financial and performance indicators to support planning and clinical governance decisions
Mobilise the latest evidence for all stages of health planning for continuous improvement, quality and safety.
Demonstrate autonomy and ability to mobilise acquired knowledge.

Holders of a bachelor's degree, or equivalent qualification, in Nursing;
Holders of a foreign higher education degree, awarded following a 1st cycle of studies in Nursing, organised in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process;
Holders of a foreign higher education degree or scientific or professional curriculum whose degree and/or curriculum has been previously recognised by the Technical and Scientific Council of ESEP.

The course unit contains:
Theoretical Classes - introducing fundamental concepts and stages of the health planning process and presenting national and international models, policies and benchmarks, using a participatory expository method to promote interaction. Guided discussion is encouraged to promote critical understanding.
Tutorial classes - Individual and/or group monitoring for project development and content clarification, promoting student initiative, creativity, autonomy and responsibility. It also stimulates critical thinking and decision-making. The presentation of work to classmates and teachers promotes the development of communication skills and discussion.
Seminars - The participation of experts in specific areas allows students to have direct contact with real, practical and strategic experiences. Using the participatory method, critical reflection, analysis, integration and practical application of theoretical knowledge are promoted.
