Bodies and Autonomous Units
At the University of Porto, the component units are the faculties and equivalent establishments, which are collective bodies in public law with autonomy of science, education, administration and finance, set up for the purpose of studies, lectureships, research and service provision in the fields to which they are dedicated. There are also establishments and component units which are not equivalent to faculties, which are collective bodies in public law with administrative and financial autonomy, and where established in the statutes, these can also have scientific and educational autonomy.
The Social Action Services at the University of Porto are also considered to be a component unit of the University.
At the University of Porto, there are autonomous units which undertake activities as a complement to educational training, under the terms of the statutes of each unit.
