PhD student in Science Communication and Dissemination, holds a degree in Biology and Geology Teaching from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (pre-Bologna), where he graduated in 2004, later specializing in Geology for Teaching. He is part of the Research Group: Social and Educational Innovation (SEI), at CIIMAR.
From 2017 to 2021, he served as a member of the General Board of the University of Porto. Currently, he supports the Council from a secretarial perspective, being responsible for the preparation and organization of meetings, document management, minute writing, follow-up of decisions, and communication between Council members and the various university services. Additionally, he assists in the strategic planning of the Council's activities and ensures compliance with institutional procedures.
He began his career as a teacher in primary and secondary education, a role he held for over ten years. Simultaneously, he started his professional activity at the University of Porto in 2005, first at the Gomes Teixeira Foundation and later at the Rectorate. He is also the co-author of several Biology and Geology textbooks for secondary school students.
Since 2006, he has coordinated the Junior University project at U.Porto, where he is responsible for organizing activities, managing the website and database, and assessing the program’s impact. The impact studies he has conducted within the scope of this project have been presented at various national and international conferences.
In addition to the Junior University, he has been involved in various science communication initiatives aimed at young audiences and the general public, in collaboration with Porto City Hall and other city institutions. These initiatives include exhibitions, scientific visits, and educational activities. Recently, he was the national coordinator of a European H2020 project (PHERECLOS) and has been preparing applications for other funding opportunities.
Throughout his career, he has supervised several professional internships, supporting young people in entering the job market. Furthermore, he has developed educational content in the field of Biology and Geology, co-authoring textbooks aimed at secondary education.
He is also currently responsible for organizing the University of Porto's Annual Exhibition, a 4-day event that offers a window into the discovery and knowledge of the University's various areas of activity and research.
