I have a MSc in Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, and a graduation in Sociology from the University of Minho.
Since 2006, my professional life is dedicated to UPIN, the technology transfer office of the University of Porto (U.Porto). Given that U.Porto is the largest science and innovation player in Portugal, supporting technological based entrepreneurship and actively promoting technology transfer and commercialisation in such a strong community has been an enormous challenge. Consulting, research and market outlook, management of programs to support entrepreneurship and innovation, intellectual property, industrial property, technology licensing, negotiation, communication, and events organisation are among my key skills and activities at UPIN.
Since 2007, and together with colleagues of TTOs from other Portuguese Universities, I have been collaborating with UTEN - University Technology Enterprise Network. This network, which is composed of Universities both from Portugal and the United States of America, has been supporting several professionalization training programs in technology transfer. The Individual Specialized Internship in Technology Transfer has therefore led me to the USA for a nearly 3-month experience at the University of Texas in Austin. At the Office of Technology Commercialization I got in contact with highly experienced and talented people working on an organization of excellence, which definitely enabled me to enhance my skills in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship.
