Objetivos
To provide a journey of knowledge and skills aquisition in order to prepare future physicians to act correctly and appropriately when confronted in their professional life with issues of medical-legal nature, regardless of their specific fields, in order to contribute to a good justice aplication in the best interest of the victims.
Programa
Scope, objectives and competences of Forensic Medicine and other Forensic Sciences.
Assessment of body damage in Criminal Law.
Signs of death and cadaverous phenomena. Production mechanisms of injury.
Evaluation of body damage in Civil Law; Evaluation of body damage in Labor Law.
Sudden death and accidental deaths.
Suicides and Homicides.
Examination of the body at the site.
Sexual crimes.
Intrafamilial violence and abuse.
Forensic Psychiatry and Forensic Psychology - Criminal and Civil Law.
Forensic Genetics and Biology Criminology.
Forensic Toxicology
Anthropology and Forensic Odontology
Practical classes: Autopsies and clinical medico-legal exams, forensic psychology, criminology and forensic toxicology, followed by problem solving exercises (under the guidance of the teachers), the analysis of expert reports relevant to the practical examinations carried out, and guidance of individual cases. Classes: 4 hours per week, alternating between the four areas mentioned above (about 20 hours of Forensic Clinical Medicine, 20 hours of Forensic Pathology, Forensic Psychology 8 hours and 4 hours of Forensic Science Laboratory).

Frequece of practical classes according to the regulations.
16 weeks of theoretical classes - 16 hours
12 weeks of practical classes - 48 hours
Total of 64 hours of personal attendance.
Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final
In continuous assessment, students will be evaluated only by teachers of Forensic Pathology and Clinical Forensic, according to the following parameters:
- Knowledge: the role and competences of legal medicine and other forensic sciences in conjunction with health services; methodological approach of the victims; general methodology of the evaluation of post-traumatic bodily damage; general methodology of the forensic autopsy, preservation and collection physical and biological traces.
- Attitudes and professional behavior: proper approach to direct and indirect victims, detachment, impartiality and prudence in forensic practice, teamwork.
- Clinical and communication capabilities: gather information, conduct a physical examination / autopsy; select, preserve, collect, package and send samples or other biological traces, ensuring the chain of custody; prepare expert reports and other documents with the medical-legal. Are then evaluated these three specific areas worth each of these areas 6, 7 and 7 values, respectively. The final average will be calculated using the following formula: x 2 + grade test note ongoing evaluation
