Apresentação Pessoal

Maria Leonor Botelho. PhD in History of Art. She is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (Department of Heritage Studies), where she is the President of the Scientific Commission of the BA in History of Art. She is an integrated researcher of CITCEM /FLUP, where she coordinates the work group "Material and Immaterial Heritage". She integrates the scientific committee of the Digital Museum of the University of Porto as the heritage management expertise. She is a member of the European Association for Urban History (EAUH). She is part of the UNESCO Chair entitled ‘Heritage, Cities and Landscapes. Sustainable Management, Conservation, Planning and Design, hosted by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto and coordinated by professor Teresa Cunha Ferreira, in collaboration with professor Rui Fernandes Póvoas.

Degree in History - Variant of History of Art (FLUP, 2001), Master in Art, Heritage and Restoration (FLUL, 2004) and PhD in History of Portuguese Art (2011) by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, with a thesis on the study of the historiography of the architecture of the Romanesque period in Portugal (1870-2010) (with FCT Grant (publ. In col. de Textos Universitários de Ciências Sociais e Humanas - FCG e FCT, 2013).

She develops research in architecture and historiography of the Romanesque period of the DGEMN's interventions in Romanesque architecture in Portugal. Her field of work and research has grown within the scope of heritage management, digital heritage and world heritage. She teaches curricular units within Heritage Management and Urban History themes in the 1st and 2nd cycles, guiding research projects in the same areas of knowledge at the master and doctoral levels.

Maria Leonor Botelho has been an executive member of the organising committees of several scientific conferences related to urban heritage: 1st International Conference "Porto as a Tourism Destination. City Tourism” (2013), International Conference “Lost and Transformed Cities: A Digital Perspective” (Lisboa, 2016) and V Creative Cities International Conference (Porto, 2017). With Ricardo Dias, Maria Leonor Botelho has translated the London Charter into Portuguese for the computer-based visualisation of cultural heritage.
Since 2015 she has been one of the coordinators, curators and producers of several virtual exhibitions published at FLUP section on Google Arts and Culture platform.

Together with Lúcia Maria Cardoso Rosas, Maria Leonor Botelho was awarded among the ten projects in the 2017 “Pedagogical Innovation Projects” award held by the University of Oporto with the «Porto de Virtudes» project.

Together with Prof. Lúcia Rosas and Prof. Mário Barroca, she coordinates the Encyclopedia of Romanesque in Portugal (2018-2021), under the collaboration protocol signed between the FLUP and the Fundación Santa María la Real del Patrimonio Histórico, un Proyecto desde Castilla y Leon (FLUP/PS-CPS/2018-72404).
