Tests to assess the ability to attend higher education for those over 23 years of age (2024/2025)

Introduction

  1. Only individuals who completed 23 years of age until 31 December of the preceding year may enrol in the tests. See regulations (in Portuguese only).
  2. The registration for the test(s) is done by filling in and submitting the form: https://inqueritos.up.pt/6/index.php/696534?lang=pt (in Portuguese only).
  3. Not be covered by the international student status regulated by Decree-Law n.º 36/2014, of 10 March (in Portuguese only), amended and republished by Decree-Law n.º 62/2018, of 6 August (in Portuguese only).
  4. The applicant may submit more than one enrolment.

Applications

The application process encompasses the following steps:
  1. Application form duly filled in: https://inqueritos.up.pt/6/index.php/696534?lang=pt (in Portuguese only);
  2. School and professional curriculum, in the European CV format;
  3. Qualifications Certificate;
  4. Declaration under oath (in Portuguese only) that you do not have access qualification for the course you are applying for;
  5. Simple photocopy of documents that the applicant considers relevant to prove his/her training and professional experience.

Evaluation Process

The process of assessing the ability to attend higher education for those over 23 years of age at the University of Porto is carried out in this order:
  1. Test or tests referred to in item (c), of number (1) of article 5 of Decree-Law nº64/2006, of March 21 (in Portuguese only). Non-attendance to the test(s) can only be justified by presenting a medical certificate or proof of death of a first-degree relative;
  2. Non-attendance, withdrawal, fraud or grade below 7 out of 20 in the test(s) referred to in point (c), of number (1) of Article 5 of Decree-Law nº64/2006of March 21 (in Portuguese only), are eliminatory criteria of the evaluation process, in these situations the candidate will be excluded from the interview;
  3. Assessment of the candidate's school and professional curriculum;
  4. Evaluation of the candidate's motivations through an interview.

Courses and exams

The theoretical and/or practical test(s) focus on topics of the scientific areas of the course to which the candidate is applying for.

Composition of the jury

The Jury is composed of three members and must be chaired by the President of the Scientific Council. The Jury is responsible for the organisation of the selection process and in particular:
  1. preparing the written test;
  2. the interviews;
  3. organizing the final graduation list.

Schedule / application process

In the current school year 2024/2025, the dates for the application process and the tests are as follows:
  • Public announcement of the opening of the application process - February 26, 2024.
  • Enrolment for test(s) at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the UP from April 1 to  May 17, 2024.
  • The application and all documentation should be submitted via the online form: https://inqueritos.up.pt/6/index.php/696534?lang=pt (in Portuguese only).
  • Posting of the List of candidates - May 22, 2024.
  • Tests - May 27 to 31, 2024.
  • Interviews - June 24 to July 4, 2024.
  • Posting of test results and placement of candidates - July 11, 2024.

Fees

Enrolment: 30 Euros
Review of the grade obtained: 80 Euros
